new catalog

Post by BillVan »

Got my new Shopsmith catalog yesterday and it seems to me that the company does not include the sanding disc, the drill chuck,a saw blade or the turning accessories including the lathe tool rest and the drive center and the cup center. In accessory package #1 they have the rip fence listed as an accessory. Did I miss something? Or did Shopsmith go cheap??

I remember that they did that for the Mark 4 when that was introduced, but looks like they've done the same with the 520 as well. I do see that there is an all in price for the 520, didn't do the math to see if there was any savings over buying all the addons separately.
Roy

Mark V/510, Mark V/500 with parts for 510 upgrade, bandsaw, jointer, belt sander, DC3300 w/1 micron bag
Sawstop 3HP 36" PCS w/router table insert
Home designed and built CNC router, another CNC router :D desktop size
CNCed G0704 milling machine
Laser engraver
Way too much other stuff and not enough space

I haven't received the new catalog yet, but Roy is correct. With the introduction of the shorter Mark 4 they also changed the Mark V 520 to the Mark V 520S. Both are available as a basic tool with add on Work Packages for the different functions to be purchased as you need. You can also purchase a complete, as they used to come, Mark 4 or Mark V 520S. With the separate packages as an example, you were never going to use it as a Lathe (I know it's a silly idea) you can save buy not having to pay for the items needed for that function that you would not use.
Russ

Mark V completely upgraded to Mark 7

While the holiday catalog doesn't say so, the Mark 7 still comes with all of those bits and pieces. https://www.shopsmith.com/markvsite/standardaccess.htm
