It appears that the rubber is shredding off the drive drum on my belt sander. Is there a fix for this besides a complete drum replacement?
thanks,

I have my doubts that there is a fix. How old is your belt sander? I ask because mine is getting into the category of also being OLD. This might be a sign of what is about to happen to me. I live in an area where heat and low humidity tends to take its toll on anything rubber.markap wrote:It appears that the rubber is shredding off the drive drum on my belt sander. SS would sell just the rubber sleeve for the sander in the past as I have replaced a couple and still have a new sleeve in my parts box. I don't remember what the order number was, but give SS a call and if they have it I am sure they will help you. It takes some patience (considerable) when installing one of the sleeves. I think I have the instructions in my notes should you decide to replace it.markap wrote:It appears that the rubber is shredding off the drive drum on my belt sander. Just called and they have them as a separate part. $10.57 so total w/ shipping and tax comes to $18.09 vs about $150 for the assembly. I think it's part number 502932 but not certain. Was told it's on BO (of course) but might possibly ship on Monday or Tuesday as they are expecting to receive a shipment of parts and machines by the end of the month.JPG40504 wrote:Also let US know IF they DO sell them.
