I'm continuing my cleanup and learning curve with the Mark VII I purchased. I was cleaning and trying to figure out why the Rack Advance was so stiff, after cleaning out all the debris and slime it worked much better but I was hearing a clicking/pinging sound. I located the sound as a spring binding up on the front side of the shaft (43 in drawing).
Then I looked at the drawing and noticed that there isn't a spring shown the that location. The spring is catching on the front fork of the worm gear bracket (29) and the wedge lock (42).
Does that spring belong there?
Note, spring (45) is in-place, even though it gouging the wedge lock.
