Jointer disassembly

Hello fellow Geniuses,
I am ready to pull my jointer off and take it apart and clean it. I just received my new knives from SS today. Russ has been helping me but I can’t locate the drawings/diagrams/instructions he referred me to. I am also dealing with a nasty brain issue that is resulting in extremely slow cognitive thoughts. So could one of you good people let me know exactly where to go to look at pretty pictures of a 1983 SS jointer. I sure would appreciate it! Thank You! Also… what tool or device is the best one I can buy for knife alignment?

At the top of this section, there is a sticky topic title "Shopsmith Large Format Drawings". On the first page is a red link titled "My Google Drive". This link will take you to the restored documents by Evererett Davis, look through the folders for the Jointer. The folder will have the manual and the parts drawing.

Good morning, Thom,

It doesn't take a fancy tool to adjust the Jointer Knives. I use a small metal square with a heavy end that I set on the outfeed table with enough hanging over the knives to have a setting point.

The information Brenda gave is to the same Jointer Manual PDF I emailed to you this morning. Hopefully it came through but if not you can get it on Everett's Google Drive.

For others reading this it has been a while since Thom has posted here. As he has indicated, Thom has some medical challenges but doing woodworking keeps him going. As I said the other day Thom, I often wonder how you are doing and hope the answer is you are doing well.

Thanks Russ & Brenda. Tomorrow they are tucking me away in the hospital for at least a week. They had to find room. I think I played Shopsmith dude a bit too long and things pulled apart. I SHALL RETURN! Better and stronger. I will NEVER STOP! Thank You! Not one bit of duct tape on my dust collector system. It is small but mighty.

I LOVE YOUR ATTITUDE. I need to take lessons. Right now I have been hindered by a broken left wrist which put my arm in a cast to the elbow.

About all I can do is sit in the shop and feel sorry for myself, but I too will be back (about 4 more weeks).
