Post To Wide For Screen
I have what is probably a really dumb question, but then I always tell my employees the only dumb question is the one you won't ask.
My question is:
Why when Dusty posts something on these forums with pictures, they are too wide to fit my screen? I have to move inmages across to read all of the text and to see the entire pictures. Not that it is a big thing, but it is only things that are posted by Dusty.
Maybe I have asked this mostly because I haven't posted anything for awhile, but I think it is more to satisfy my curosity.
Please don't throw rocks at my uneducated question, just trying to learn something.
Thanks to all, you really are a great bunch.....

I keep finding little windows on this forum, that I don't really know what they do. So sometimes I experiment. Probably shouldn't do that, I know in my shop it can get me into trouble.

Bob, first question would be, what screen resolution is your monitor set at? If you're using a low resolution setting, you will have to scroll the window to view large pics.

Bob,
It is not something that you do or anything with your equipment. I learned a new trick here on the forum a few days ago and I guess I have been causing problems I did not anticipate.
I will refrain and do my photos like the rest of the world.
I apologize for the inconveniences that I have caused.
To see how this all came to be, you can review this thread, Bob.

new tricks
Dusty, don't feel bad. I made a minor( at least I thought it minor) adjustment to my "other" computer, my "real " one is a Mac. The adjustment somehow told the dell to ignore or firewall the wireless conection. It did! Then Firefox decided that the computer wasn't getting any signal even though the computer said it was excellent and apparently offered several electronic suggestions that resulted in the computer "spending a long time talking to itself". In the process of "fixing this", I updated the MSN, which my older safari will not talk to. I can see my e-mail, but nothing else. ( still not sure why someting on the dell got to the mac) Soon to arrive, a new OSX that will allow me to get e-mail fixed.
My business address was not effected, and the adjustment is now gone. My mail trust account will need to be updated to run on the new OSX. Maybe all of this was just me messing up, but man was it irritating

Based on the results of the poll on monitor resolution, photos placed side by side that are no wider than about 600 pixels each (1200 total) will be viewed without scrolling by about 90% of the people viewing the forum. (90% = 29/33 people with resolutions 1200 or higher)
Here's two photos at 600 pixels wide each.

These will fit 90% of peoples screens. The other 10% would have to scroll OR they will appear stacked one above the other, depending on the internet browser they use.

Mike I must scroll to see the entire picture not really a problem I was just curious. Also if that is your youthful picture your parents must have really loved you.mickyd wrote:Based on the poll from the thread above, photos placed side by side that are no wider than about 600 pixels each (1200 total) will be viewed without scrolling by about 90% of the people viewing the forum. These two photos are 375 pixels wide each (~750 pixels wide total). billmayo, ed in tampa, and a1gutterman should be able to see them without scrolling. They have monitor resolutions at 800 wide. Can you three gentlemen see these side by side?

You know, now that you bring it up, I don't really know how my parents felt about me. Dad was always angry and mom........she was an exhibitionist!!

Now, I'm beginning to understand how you got so smart! With parents like that, how could you miss?:D
BTW - about viewing photos; It used to be that I had to scroll to view all side by side photos. Now, my new version of Internet Explorer can view the boat/baby picture either on one screen, but they are vertically aligned rather than horizontal - or I can see them side by side, but need to scroll.
Now, my newer version of IE has a button on the top line that is for "Compatibility view". I can look at your side by side pictures then click that button and view the photos vertically. With this setting all of your photos fit within the screen
My monitor is 1024 by 768
Compatability means (to IE); ...problems such as out of place menus, text or pictures will be corrected
