I prefer calling it "comprehensive" instead of "way off subject".

Re: way tubes
It may not technically have been off topic, but it's much like flying from Minneapolis to Chicago through Atlanta. It gets you where you need to be, but not necessarily via the most efficient route unless your ultimate destination is frequent flyer miles.dusty wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 2:46 pmAre you certain that they were "off topic. Re: way tubes
I am going to take it apart again. First I will properly install the bed tubes. Then I will install the way tubes with the hidden set screws and adjust accordingly. I will report back. I just want to get this right and safe. As for the people that got way off subject....please rethink what you are doing, it is not helpful.

Re: way tubes
Cutting spacers? If the Shopsmith needed spacers Shopsmith would have included them? Maybe their intentions were good but I have no idea where to cut the spacers from and where to install them. Just confused things.
Nobody has a simple instructions on how to correctly put together a Shopsmith V ends and tubes. Better known as basic set up, I find that strange.

Re: way tubes
The spacer comments are for the double tilt upgrade. Some here think they are necessary but, SS does not so they don't provide them when you upgrade to the double tilt. They are not pertinent to your assembly.Haverstrawman wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 7:30 pm Cutting spacers? If the Shopsmith needed spacers Shopsmith would have included them? As for the basic MK V, when you order one from SS the bench (legs, ends and tubes) come pre-assembled. There is no need for SS to provide instructions to assemble it. So if you take one apart or buy one in pieces then the forum here is the go to for how to re-assemble it.

Please look at this thread with instructions for reassembly of the base and carriage: viewtopic.php?p=41340#post41340Haverstrawman wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 7:30 pm Nobody has a simple instructions on how to correctly put together a Shopsmith V ends and tubes. The instructions are detailed and include pictures.

Re: way tubes
So where is the thread to properly reassembly the Shopsmith? The thread above has a lot of warnings attached to it.
