Distance and hole size for SPT holder.

Distance and hole size for SPT holder.
Hi,
I want to make a few spt holders/ base mounts. And because it is just temporary I would like to 3d print them. I couldn't really find what the exact hole size for the base mount is and what the distance to each other is - does anyone have these dimensions?
Thanks a lot in advance

When I make wooden stands, I drill 1 1/4” holes 7” on center. For printing, you may want to make the holes 1.26”.

How much will the raw material cost?
You do not have an aux table to measure?

Yes, I have the table to measure, but I prefer to go from engineering dimensions instead of measuring. I will come up with a design - and if you want, keep you posted with design, material cost and printing time!

GOOD LUCK getting ANY "engineering dimensions" from SS.
As an engineer myself, I do not see any reason for seeking anything 'better' than direct measuring on a product like the SS which did NOT involve any exotic thinking or funky dimensions when they were created.

Personally I prefer direct measurement over design spec most of the time. Find out what it is rather than what it's supposed to be.

At this late date, I doubt there is any deviation between what it is vs what it is supposed to be. Too many made over the last 65+ yeas. I say this relative to the main subject of this thread(spt post od and spacing).HopefulSSer wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2024 7:19 pm Personally I prefer direct measurement over design spec most of the time. As promised, the result.
SPT stand, 3D printed:
267g material ($5.30 worth of PLA, but I used an old spool)
7 hours print time
$2.26 electricity

Very nice looking work shop.
Stand is definitely different from shat I would have expected. How much does it weigh?

Re: Distance and hole size for SPT holder.
Definitely a different looking SPT holder. It could easily be attached to a bench or shelf for extra stability. It has good height on the posts as shown with the Belt Sander. How will it preform holding heavier SPT's like the Jointer and the taller Bandsaw? The Jointer has a lot of weight, but the weight is straight down while sitting so maybe not a problem. The Bandsaw is tall making them less stable and older ones and with the cast iron table are even heavier near the mid-point of the tool.
At $7.56 it is a less costly alternative by almost 8 times to the OEM SPT Mounting Base. Of course, that $7.56 price is only costs without labor. What the longevity of this 3D Printed SPT Holder compared to the OEM Mounting Base would determine its cost effectiveness. I know the materials used for 3D printing is pretty durable.
If I used this 3D Printed SPT Holder on the Accessory Stand shown below, could they stand up to the Bandsaws occasionally being bumped into without breaking? This Accessory Stand is on wheels and does get moved around the shop.

Don't let my questions and comments deter you from making and using your SPT Holder. It's mostly me thinking out loud.
