Sawsmith 2000 avaialble near me

Post by twistsol »

I popped onto Craigslist tonight and there is a Sawsmith 2000 available for $500 less than 20 miles from here. I haven't looked into these deeply, but have been intrigued by some of the features since I first read about them.

My question is, is the a solid dependable tool that I could use as my main table saw or would it be more of a novelty addition to my shop. I do have a very serviceable cast iron saw with an Incra fence so I really have no real need for it but would use it if I bought it.
Thanks much,

Chris Phelps

I love mine. Both of them actually. I got them both in very good condition. I can't say it's superior to some other tables saws.

Sawsmiths came with 2 different rail, fence, and extension table systems. One of mine came with an Excalibur fence which is fantastic, and extra rails and tables which I could use with the other one. The other saw came with a 510 style fence on a tubular rail. The Excalibur fence and heavy extruded rails are a far superior system.
