Caster replacemnt option ??

Post by StoneyD »

Needing to replace the casters on my newly acquired Mark V Model 510. The mfr. website only shows two reviews of the premium caster upgrade. One review says the material used for the wheels degraded within two years. I've searched locally for proper caster replacements and can't find suitable ones. When searching this forum haven't come across recent posts that have pointed me to simply obtaining 4 new casters from any source. Thought maybe others have dealt with caster replacement issue.

Wow, after spending 2 hours hitting every local hardware store within 30 minutes of me today, thanks to this forum and your recommendation my problem is solved. Ordered them just now and free shipping with my Prime membership, arriving May 2. Thanks very much for your reply.

I believe Shopsmith recently stopped selling the replacement 2" Castors and only sells the 3" upgrade ones.

There was a discussion some time ago about the 3" Castors as reported by a Forum Member not lasting which is where I believe that review also came from. It may have been a bad batch of castors that were the culprit. I have had the 3" Castor upgrade on my Mark 7 for several years now without any degrading problems. One of these days I will get around to putting the 3" castors I already have on my Mark V 520.
