beaver,

Welcome to the Shopsmith Forum.

The Jointer you mentioned was made in late 1958 or early 1959. Yes, it will work on any Mark series tool and all Magna/Shopsmith 4" Jointers made except the Model 4E will work on your Mark V. The Model 4E Jointer was made in 1953 for the Shopsmith Model 10E and 10ER tools.

Even though that Jointer was made in the late 1950's current parts can replace broken or worn parts on that old of a Jointer. Sometimes that is individual parts while other times a complete assembly will be needed as a replacement. Another piece of good news is upgrades made to the Jointer over the years can be added to that era of Jointer except the Infeed Stop which part of it is cast onto the Base/Outfeed Table.
Russ

Mark V completely upgraded to Mark 7
Mark V 520
All SPT's & 2 Power Stations
Model 10ER S/N R64000 first one I restored on bench w/ metal ends & retractable casters.
Has Speed Changer, 4E Jointer, Jig Saw with lamp, a complete set of original accessories & much more.
Model 10E's S/N's 1076 & 1077 oldest ones I have restored. Mark 2 S/N 85959 restored. Others to be restored.
