Is this really legit, or is he working independent of the mothership...just curious. Surprised to find out there is a 3rd party that is now authorized by Shopsmith as a repair center.

Re: Shopsmith Headstock Trade-in Program
He's legit -- he's local to me and I've done business with him. Nice guy. I got my 1-1/8 hp motor for my greenie from him and he did me right.
I think he's been the only factory-authorized Shopsmith repair agent for a very long time.
I don't know anything about his trade-in program and I haven't heard about it from SS themselves so I presume it's something he's doing on his own initiative. But why not? Sounds like a good idea to me!

Thanks. Yeah, I think I have seen his Shopsmith repair videos on YT in the past. I just never knew there is a Shopsmith authorized repair center. The trade-in program with 2 year warranty sounds interesting. Not something I would use, but I can see it being of value to other Shopsmith owners. I don't even do propane tank trade ins. I just prefer to have my own tanks that I trust and refill them. Hope he has good business and continues offering this service.HopefulSSer wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 7:51 am He's legit -- he's local to me and I've done business with him. Nice guy. James is a nice guy - I've been by his place some time ago. Glad to see he is still ticking along.
