Is this really legit, or is he working independent of the mothership...just curious. Surprised to find out there is a 3rd party that is now authorized by Shopsmith as a repair center.

He's legit -- he's local to me and I've done business with him. Nice guy. I got my 1-1/8 hp motor for my greenie from him and he did me right.

I think he's been the only factory-authorized Shopsmith repair agent for a very long time.

I don't know anything about his trade-in program and I haven't heard about it from SS themselves so I presume it's something he's doing on his own initiative. But why not? Sounds like a good idea to me!

Thanks. Yeah, I think I have seen his Shopsmith repair videos on YT in the past. I just never knew there is a Shopsmith authorized repair center. The trade-in program with 2 year warranty sounds interesting. Not something I would use, but I can see it being of value to other Shopsmith owners. I don't even do propane tank trade ins. I just prefer to have my own tanks that I trust and refill them. Hope he has good business and continues offering this service.

James is a nice guy - I've been by his place some time ago. Glad to see he is still ticking along.

James has taught what he knows to his grandson who is doing most of the work now. He will gradually transition everything to his grandson as he prepares for retirement.
