crosss cut sliding table fence issue

I recently purchased the cross cut sliding table. I am having difficulties installing the fence. It appears that the 2 oblong screw holes which are parallel with the length of the fence should instead be perpendicular . This arrangement of holes limits the fence movement to allow a square cut.
Did anyone have this issue?

I have not gone to the shop yet to look at my table's hole pattern BUT I believe I would start by mearuring the hole pattern. Is there a set of mounting holes that are in a square pattern?

More info to clarify the situation: the oblong holes are on the fence, running parallel to the length of the fence. This arrangement limits the amount of movement to achieve a fence square to the saw blade.

Understood. But since I can achieve "square to the blade" without the oblong holes as you describe I cannot subscript to "oblong" being required.
Do not over look the miter bar movement. That also plays into the task of squaring to the blade.

Thanks for the reminder. I'll re-examine the bar.

What do you use to measure fence to blade relation ship? I have a framing square that reliably reports 90.07 degrees.

I use a Crown tool try square from Sheffield, England. Don't have a tool as accurate as your square. Upon re-inspecting my miter bar position, I found it to be off about the amount that I was attempting to correct with the fence. Looks like poor lighting contributed to my error. I now have to adjust the bar.

I do not consider my framing square to be accurate at all and Crown tools are typically quality items.

Made some adjustments to my saw. My table is now set-up correctly. Had trouble when verifying setup with a test cut - discovered that my Crown try square is not square! Really disappointed! It is not adjustable; just not square. I am now considering spending some money to buy quality - looks like quality may require a "bank loan".

Checked squareness with my drafting triangles.
