Parts manufacture

Has anyone ever had any parts for their Mk5 manufactured? Wondering if getting a local business to machine up a new spindle could be an option.

Trouble is, parts are like rocking horse poop in the UK. New quill assembly is nearly £300 (just over $400 at today's exchange rate).chapmanruss wrote: Fri Feb 20, 2026 1:49 pm It would likely be more costly to have a machine shop fabricate one than buying one from Shopsmith. If you have a Mark 5/V with the Poly V Drive, you will only need a new replacement Quill assembly from Shopsmith or buy a used one. If you have an Older, pre-April 1961, Mark 5 with the Gilmer Drive you can get a used one or upgrade to the Poly V Drive which requires replacing the Quill Assembly, Drive Sleeve Assembly, Idler Shaft part and the upper Belt.
