All,
What type of glue do you use to attach the sandpaper to the Sanding disc?

Is there an option for a velcro backer?

Hi, Don. Shopsmith does offer a Velcro option as well as a retrofit kit. As for gluing I use 3M spray on glue.

Let's not forget that sandpaper disks from Shopsmith come with adhesive already on their backs. They are re-usable if heat is applied before removing then the protective (wax?) paper is re-applied to the removed paper.

I store new and used disks in separate paper packages. These are the same packages that contained the disks when purchased from Shopsmith.

I use 3M 77 spray glue. If the surface is clean it works very well. fjimp

I like the Velcro system. For the disc I use for sharpening I like the 3M 77. I am currently using DAP Weldwood Multipurpose Spray Adhesive, which works but if find it messy and not as easy to apply as 3M. Next time I will purchase the more expensive can.

Thanks to all for the info. I noticed the adhesive on the disks I have but how do I activate it? it's just shiny. Sorry for the stupid questions, but i just don't know.....

I have multiple disk and use self stick because I never remove one until it is worn out.

Just in case you are wondering: PSA = Pressure Sensitive Adhesive. Just peel the (usually) tan backing, carefully apply to disk. Press down firmly. I often turn them over on the concrete and stand on the back side. Not always necessary.
