Belt Sander

I have an issue that every time I hookup a vacuum to my belt sander it Boggs the power station any advice???

Are you plugging both into the same circuit?

The power station is pulling about 8 to 9 amperes. What is the 'vacuum' drawing?

Hi David,

As beeg and Red have already hinted at, I think that you are operating both pieces of equipment on a single circuit, and it is probably a 15 amp circuit to boot. Try plugging each unit into separate circuits (knot just separate receptacles) and see what the results are.

Units are on different circuits it actually causes the belt to slow not as much as the PowerStation. I installed the upgrade on the vacuum port for the belt sander and I think that is the issue it creates to much suction on the belt.

So, as I understand it, it IS KNOT an electrical "brown-out" that we are talking about, but rather, you are saying that the suction is slowing the belt down? You are saying that the belt is slipping due to the suction?

Tim, you have the winning question from my thread. When I finally get the belt tension right and start using the machine it slips and bogs down when I start up the vacuum.

Oakay, I have knot had this experience, but let me ask you this; if you do knot turn the vacuum on, and you try sanding a work-piece, does the belt also slip then?

Not as much as when the vacuum is on… I think the boot on the spindle has worked its way loose also. I don’t use as much as I want for those reasons.

1) Is the belt slipping on the rubber drive cylinder?

2) Is the rubber 'sleeve' slipping on the aluminum drive cylinder?

3) Have you adjusted the belt tension properly?

4) Can you easily turn by hand the belt AND cylinders without the belt slipping?

5) Without a belt mounted, do BOTH(individually) cylinders rotate freely(when NOT attached to Power station drive)?
