Bandsaw tire rubbing cover

I have a problem with the lower wheel tire slightly rubbing the cover right at the top edge of the cover. This started when I changed tires. I followed the procedures, , cleaned the old stuff off of the wheel. Is there some allignment to the bottom (drive) wheel that I'm missing? or the cover? I am really stumped - - and am probably going to be embarassed!

HOW did ya remove the old tire? Which tires did ya use for replacement?

There is no alignment that can be done to the lower wheel. However, you can put it back on (assuming you took it off) without getting it right.

The old tire was removed by pulling off and then cleaning residue using solvent, a knife and some elbow grease. There may have been a few dregs left but the wheel felt smooth. New tire (555644) was glued on using the contact cement provided in the replacement kit. The rubbing seems to be all around, not just one spot where a bump would be. . .

And yes, I did take the wheel off.

I had similar problems when I changed mine from rubber to urethane. If I remember correctly, you can futz with the cover and see aobut getting it clear.
I got tired of having to tweak it, so I just used a Dremel to grind away a little of the cover. When you compare that to the holes I cut to get to the tension adjustment and see the tension gauge, it was no big deal.
I assume this is just some minor rubbing - nothing major?

It is hard for me to envision why you have a problem, rpbland.
It seems like your lower wheel has to be out of position quite a lot to create any sort of interference fit.
I laid a straight edge across the front of the lower wheel and measured the distance from that edge back to the forward edge of the bandsaw housing. It measures 1 1/16".
When the cover is put in place, there should be a little over 1/4" clearance between the wheel and the inside of the cover.
Where does the blade track on the wheels - both upper and lower?

Thanks for all for the replies. Since there is no adjustment to the lower wheel, and the blade is tracking nicely in the middle of the tire, I can only assume the replacement tire was just a little thicker. That, combined with the probable large tolerance in the cover mounting studs results in a small rub.
Saturday it is Dremmel time!

Do you have any sawdust issues after cutting the two holes? Did you glue clear plastic over the viewing slot?
