How do you remove 12" adhesive sanding sheets?
When I purchased my SS, I received 2 12" sanding disks and at least 20 adhesive sanding pads of different grits.
My question to the board is, what is the best way to get the old sandpaper off?
Thanks!

Yeah me too. I have been swearing at my latest TV because it wouldn't show me viewing options. Right after I found what you asked for I decided to try one more time and found an upgrade on the Sony website that looks like what we need. Hopefully in a few minutes the Head Techie at our house (my bride of 39 years) will have it installed. Good Luck Jimhohenfelsjoe wrote:Thanks Guys! I guess I need to hone my searching skills :-D

I put mine out in the hot sun for a couple hours. Handle with care (with gloves), they get really hot. This seems to soften the adhesive and the disks come right off. There will likely be some adhesive left behind. Clean real good with mineral spirits before attaching the next disk.
I keep multiple sanding disks so as to minimize the number of times I have to remove a disk.
The heat of an oven will work too; if she'll let you use it for such things.

I use a heat gun set on the low setting. After the paper comes off I clean the remaining residue with 91% IPA.

This might of been mention before. (But my searching skills are also bad). What is better: adhisve disk or velcro? I know velcro will probally be better for changing disk. But how long does the actual pad (with the grit) hold up?
I see said the blindman, to his deaf wife, as he picked up his hammer and saw.

I believe the velcro sanding disks last as long as the adhesive backed. Just DO NOT use the velcro system for working on metal (even sharpening). The heat destroys the velcro. TRUST ME.
