Broken Carriage
Last night I was roughing a chunk of crab apple to make a bowl and the carriage casting that holds the tool post snapped. The part is listed as number 158 but there is no listing in the parts catalog. How do I get a replacement?:

Broken Carriage
In my catalog, item #158 is the carriage lock handle (PN 5042639) and is listed for a model 500. It didn't sound like this is what you want.
If you want/need a carriage and you have a 500, the part number is 517765 and costs $150.88.
If you have a 505/510/520, the part number is 514209 and costs $78.31.
I would recommend that you get a current catalog from Shopsmith. The catalog contains drawings that will allow you to more accurately determine what you need.
For the forum:
This is the first time I have heard about a carriage cracking. Does this happen often?
