Well, I am in the middle of restoring my dads old mark V; but there was a broken part, I think it's called the nylon coupling, the little plastic sheath that the quill feeds into. Can't find it on any schematics or on shopsmith's website. Any suggestions?

This part may vary depending upon which Mark 5/V you have. The splines in the quill shaft vary.

Well, I missplaced the part and the only view I have of it is in a sawdust video of rebuilding the quill. It's the nylon sheath that the quill slides into.
The part #57 mentiones doesn't seem to be the same as the broken piece. I exploded the diagram and can't see anything that would fit. Maybe if I had a better picture of the part I could tell.

That is what a 'broken' gilmer version looks like.

It does knot look like SS sells that part by itself. Maybe talking to customer service will help.

I would be interested in hearing if they sell it or not. I have thought mine had some wear at the end of the opeining causing my quill to spin freely when it was almost fully extended. Others had said that they dont wear out much so I did not pursue trying to order one.
