When I got the ER10, the table raiser crank was severly bent.

This was probably due to the crank getting slammed up against the arm when the ER was in the vertical drill press positon. A simple preventive measure is shown below.

Good one Mike. Mine was a little bent too. I just straightened it and didn't think any more about it. I will be making the mod. ...or maybe I'll just be careful in drill press mode but in any case it's a good observation.
Thanks

Did you put a bumper on the headstock also?

No. Figured that's reserved for a positive stop.

I had mentioned that the crank handle probably got bent in drill press mode. I'm adding another possible cause. Sliding the work table / carriage over to the right and knocking it against the arm will also cause the handle to get bent. Had I not had my preventive measure in place, I probably would have bent it yesterday. I went to move the carriage and the wedge locks held on tight. When they let loose, the carriage moved VERY fast (thanks to those nicely polished, previously trashed tubes

) and it tunked the carriage bolt / bumper pretty good. Had the carriage bolt not been there, the crank handle would have hit.

"tunked"? Is that one of those technical engineering terms?
My stuff usually just bonks or bangs.
