Saw blade alignment

Just purchased a used 1999 Mark 5 Model 510. I'm having trouble getting the saw blade aligned with the bottom guard. It is rubbing against it unless I move the arbor out about 3/16 of an inch on the drive shaft. I know, not suppose to do that. Aligning the table is not a problem. I'm sure it is the proper 5/8 arbor for the 510. Any ideas?

Swampfox,

You most likely have an arbor from a Model 500. It's shorter than the model 510 arbor and will not work with the 510 lower guard. Hope this helps.

It sounds like you are attempting to use an arbor designed for the 500s. It is shorter than the 510 arbors. However, you can extend the quill to position the blade so that you can use this arbor.
I would not extend the arbor far and use with a saw blade but to position within the insert is in my opinion acceptable.

Thanks everyone for your help. I have ordered a new arbor from SS and in the meantime will move this one out a little so I can use it. It seems to work OK but want to be safe of course.
