What are reasonable prices for used Shopsmith accessories?
All,
I have an opportunity to purchase the following used Shopsmith accessories all at once:
- Strip sander
- Power station
- Bandsaw
- Pro planer with motorized stand
- DC3300 dust collector
- Belt sander
- Jointer
What is a reasonable price to pay for this?
Chuck

The person I'm considering purchasing from also has a Shopsmith 510 (which I would not be buying) bought in 1995, so I assume the accessories are not any older than that. There is a lot of rust on the jointer bed and the planer in-feed table. This person doesn't know if any of it really works or not, so I'd be taking some chance of a few duds perhaps.
The bandsaw looks very new -- it has the aluminum table.

Paul,Go to Ebay and do an advanced search on prices actually paid for items that sold. That will be the market value or close to it.

I've tried several times (and again today) to look at prices items sold for, but can't figure that out. Unless I have the actual number of the item being sold, I can't seem to find any after-auction information. Can you explain how this is done?

After you search for a keyword (such as "Shopsmith") and get the list of current auctions, look at the far left menu and there is an option for "Completed Listings." You might have to scroll down a little. Just click that.

Thanks much for the info. I've heard this was possible for quite some time, but was never able to figure it out. I tried a couple of Shopsmith-related searches and the results showed about a two-week history of what has sold.

None of those pieces should be duds unless they are physically broken into pieces. I just acquired a 1954 Mark V and it was in sorry shape but everything is cleaning up very nicely and this machine should be real nice and useful when I am finished restoring it. I was even able to salvage the casters which at first glance looked to me to be certain garbage material. Well i was wrong. After disassembly and wire brushing then polishing they look and function as almost new. All it takes is some motivation, determination and patience and these machines are very restorable.
As for the items you asked about that could be worth over $1,000 or only $100.00. Really depends on the condition and operating status of the items in question. if they do not work now then they will need some TLC to get them working and this will dramatically lower the value. If however they are perfect and in working order than they will be worth a heck of a lot more. But it really depends on two things only.
1. how much are you willing to pay???
2. How much are they willing to sell them for???
If you feel the price is too high and they won't negotiate then walk away there are literally tons of Shopsmith stuff for sale out there all you gotta do is look.

I struggled with this response but you know we are discouraged by the rules of this forum in getting too much into this territory (of used prices, etc) out of courtesy for the folk's at Shopsmith who host this forum. So I'll leave it at that. No discourtesy on my part but just pointing it out.chuckk2333 wrote:All,
