None shopsmith unidentified part ???

Post by reible »

Hi,

Got a box of odds and ends and found this part that looks like something I should remember but don't. Has "Atkins" and "Made in USA" in the mold, measures 3-3/8" long, 2-5/8" tall including the thumb screw, and about a half inch thick including the thumb screw. It is painted black and has machined surfaces on what I'm guessing is the bottom side. Look like it was cast.

Didn't seem to be anything else in the box that it would fit or attach to.

Here are a couple of pictures:

Anyone?

That's a saw jointer. Used as part of the process of sharpening a hand saw. A file is placed under the thumb screw and used to shape all the teeth to the same height. If you don't want it (or need it) let me know, I'd be happy to put it to use.
