I hate reading such stories. When we completed our move to Colorado we discovered a Harbor Freight store about 12 miles away. I have paid three visits to the store. The first time they were out of stock on three of three items I desired. The second visit was the first day of a special advertised sale. They were out of one of the two items I desired. The third visit was the week after the sale. The one item is still desired from them was no longer on sale and in fact had doubled in price. I have my doubts I will waste time to visit them again. fjimp

Don't know about your store, but ours will issue rain checks unless specifically excluded in the sales flyer. But, you have to ask.]fjimp wrote:I hate reading such stories. I feel very much the same. I have been in the store about three times and purchased one item; a dead blow hammer for about $3.00. However, it is a shame that any family business would fail in this manner.8iowa wrote:Harbor Freight has always been on my "pass on by" list.

Sleezy story about sleezy behavior from people running a sleezy store selling sleezy merchandise. Without fail everything I have ever bought as harbor freight I have regretted and I either took it back or threw it away. My biggest mistake was buying HF bolts. Most ended up causing me to damage the thng I used them on, either because they broke off, stripped out or failed in some other way. I learned that lesson. Oh yes I also bought some sand paper what can go wrong? Well apparently the sand paper is either made or otherwise coated in some chemical that makes anything it comes in contact with over a period of time to corrode. I now have corrosion stains on things I didn't want corrosion stains on.
Yeah just watch me rush back to HF

Did you go there expecting stainless steel aircraft quality bolts or did you get what you went there for - inexpensive (aka cheap).Ed in Tampa wrote:Sleezy story about sleezy behavior from people running a sleezy store selling sleezy merchandise. My experience......almost the complete opposite. The only 'big ticket' items (>$40) purchased has been a 1/3 hp 8" bench grinder / polisher ($49) which has performed admirably through my Greenie and ER restorations, a 2 HP, 8 gal, 115 psi air compressor ($70) which holds and blows air with the best of them, and my workbench ($120) made of hardwood with velvet drawer linings. Enjoy all three.Ed in Tampa wrote:Sleezy story about sleezy behavior from people running a sleezy store selling sleezy merchandise. Low end products I have no complaints about include....$10 40 pc. SAE tap and die set, $9 cordless screw driver, $30 florescent magnifying lamp, $5 10" hardwood handscrew clamps.
Only quality issues I've had....sandpaper for longevity and questionable grit size designation, along with their $6 battery operated 'dremel' tool.
