Mark V disassembly problems

I Recently purchased a rusted up Mark V for parts and started disassembling it. On the pivoting side of the base, to remove the lower waytubes, there are to allen screws that need to be loosened that are tucked up inside the base which are hard to get to at a straight angle because of the pivot bar? It has what looks like a drive-type pin in a small hole above the lower waytubes.
Is there an easy way to remove this? I can seem to break one of the set screws loose because of the angle problem and dont want to strip it??

Glen,

Welcome! You are correct, that 'drive-type' pin can be knocked out with a pin punch. Just let it fall into the casting behind the base arm pin. Then you can remove the base arm from the base to get at those set screws. Then hit with some penetrating oil. I had the same problem.

I would advise that you NOT try to drive it out with a makeshift tool. Get the appropriate pin punch. If you screw up that pin I don't believe you will ever get it out short of doing damage. The pin is about 1 1/2" long.

I used an 8d nail with the tip ground off. Worked like a charm.
