Sewing Desk Design Books

Now that our remodeling is complete my first project must be a sewing desk for my brides new quilting room. Does anyone have suggestion for sources of designs or books on this type of cabinets? Fjimp

I just Googlesewing desk plans and came up with quite a few plans.

Thank you for the link. I had found everything shown there on every other search I tried. I am still not locating quite what I would like to find.

When I look for design inspiration, I will often go to Lumberjocksand browse their project section. When I find the look that I like, I will modify it to fit my needs. I will draw it up either on paper or in Sketchup and then proceed from there. I did this for my toy chest project and also for my router table and am very happy with the outcome.

Here are a couple of snap shots of a sewing center I made years ago. If you’re interested I’ll search for the plans. The OA dimensions are 36 wide, 48 high, and 11.5 deep.

She picked this unusual design because the room serves as a guest bedroom in addition to being her sewing center. This design doesn’t take up any floor space. I used French cleats to hang it.

You can see it's a wall cabinet that folds open for use. The glass doored portion becomes the outrigger or leg when open. When I built it I thought she'd use that small cabinet for sewing supplies but because it's so difficult to access when in use it doesn't get used in that way. Before someone comes to visit she usually puts in a few display items. The shelves are adjustable in both the main cabinet and the display unit.

Wow neat and very inventive design. Our new sewing room has a great deal o floor space and the request is for a free standing cabinet. Than you just the same I truly appreciate the offer. Jim
