need Universal Tool Rest help

Post by bluedevil »

re: mounting the Mounting plate

1. Does the mounting plate bar mount against the bottom of the way tubes ? (center to center on way tubes is about 7-1/4" and the mounting bar is 7") This doesn't make sense to me
2. The socket head screws are 5" long ,the mounting bar is 1/2", the mounting plate is about an 1", the way tubes are 1-3/4" od...that leaves a lot of screw left over.
3. If the bolts are aligned to be against the inside of the way tubes, then that would mean of mounting plate bar is going to dig into the way tubes?

Little help would be appreciated.

The UTR has two bolts and a long flat bar that secures it to your carriage, after removing everything else, without drilling holes. Here is a photo from elsewhere in this forum. Thank yous to Paul M.Cohen and Ron from Lewisburg, TN

Wasn't thinking. Looking at pics 1-3, I thought the whole process mounted to the way tubes and then took a long look at pic5 and the whole thing is mounted on top of the carriage. We all have days...I just chose today to have a week's worth.

Every test is easy if you have the answers. :D
On this forum the phrase "a picture is worth a thousand words" is proven over and over every day. :)
