Conical sanding disk: recommendation on grit

Just treated myself with a new conical sanding disk along with the 3 pack of assorted sandpaper. With my velcro system on my other disk(s), I don't worry about changing sanding disks but now I am again faced with the fact that, due to the difficulty of changing the paper, the paper I put on the conical disk is one I will be using most of the time.

This leads me to my question to all you ladies and gentleman out there in SS land - if you only had one grit of sandpaper to use on your conical disk what grit would you use?

I'm rather of the opinion (not having tried it yet) that I am going to mount the finest grit as I think that I will usually be putting a finished edge on boards.

So what would you all pick?

By the way - my order arrived only a couple of days after placing it!

Purchase another disk and have two available grits available all the time.

I would go with the fine because I use the conical for sharpening frequently. You may be surprised though with the finish left by the coarser grits. I also have to admit to accumulating three conical discs so I don't have to make hard decisions like this one.]

The idea of having multiple conical sanding disks is a neat idea but it took me many, many months to get to the point where I could justify one! At that rate, my estate will be the one buying the next one (or two)!

I think I will use the finest grit and just get familiar with my new toy.

Fine is a good choice. It is my favorite! It's good for sharpening plane and jointer blades as well as a little edge sanding on wood.

I bought a disk for each grit for both flat and conical sanders when they had a sale. If I had to settle for only one I would probably choose the fine grit as well.
