I am a little disappointed in the wood. I brought about 8 blanks of cococobao from the local wood store. I didn't think it would be so dark and show so little grain.
following the thread posted recently here and watching some video made it go good.
Great job farley. You can never tell about that cocobolo until you turn it. I usually pick the lightest colored pieces if I have the option. They usually have more grain.

Those pens look very nice. Regarding the wood, it looks more like ebony than cocobolo, but it's hard to tell from a photograph. Perhaps it was mislabeled. Cocobolo, which can be dark, still should have some variation in color from browns to orange, not solid black.
very nice job. please be advised that turning pens can be addictive and at this time there is no twelve step program available at least that i know of.
