Gotta send along my congratulations and thanks for Shopsmith coming out with that green sandpaper for the Belt Sander and Strip Sander. When it was first introduced by Shopsmith, Jim McCann said this silicon paper would outlast others by 10 times. I've found this estimation to be conservative.
And, man! I'm here to tell you I have done a lot of sanding in the last few months and am still working on the original belts on both Strip and Belt sanders. I've been patiently waiting for performance to lessen with no change. In addition, IMO, these belts are more aggressive and care is needed to not sand too much. I've been using 120 grit on both machines.
In anticipation of these belts wearing out, I jumped at the recent sale and bought a couple more sets. Now probably have a lifetime stock.
If this sounds like an ad - it probably is! I'm sold!! and wanted to pass along my findings.!!!
