Strip Sander table problem.

I purchased a Strip Sander and am having trouble getting/keeping the table flat. The trunnion fits on the guide fine, but no combination of tightness of the table lock knob and adjustment of the setscrew gives me a stable and flat table surface.

Anyone else have this problem? Thoughts? Thanks.

Make sure you have the two different size washers between the table locking knob shoulder and the trunnion.

Denny: I have the exact same problem. It seems to have come from the factory that way. Everything is absolutely correct. I initally tried shimming various parts of the table, however, nothing helps. Since I don't use the table, I hung it on a wall and have ignored it for several years but I would like to know what is wrong. I should have called SS when it arrived (5 years ago?) but out of laziness, I did not. Sorry I could not help but please post your findings or PM me if you discover something.

You do have the bolt installed on front of the table that lines up the slot in the table?

Assuming the trunnion is tightened securely to the table, I would make sure the trunnion guide is not interfering with the trunnion and preventing it from seating up against the housing. Like the old style jigsaw, the strip sander table is not as 'solid' as the bandsaw. They are both cantilevered from a single trunnion.

Problem solved, and it was all my fault . When I initially went through the installation a few weeks ago, all went well. In the interim, I removed the sander to cut boards. When I reinserted the sander to use it, I noticed the table wasn't stable and went through all sorts of exercises to make it right but no matter what I did I wound up with either an unstable or a less-than-flat table.

Then it hit me this morning. I hadn't yet connected the sander to the headstock spindle. Trust me....without that connection, there is no way to get both a stable and flat table. After making the spindle connection, it worked fine.

As a current saying goes, "my bad". Thank you all for trying to help. It's appreciated.
