Reversing PS for Sharpening

Post by jondann »

I wanted to use the chisel sharpening jig on the strip sander on my Power Station to sharpen/touch-up chisels while turning on the Mk5. But my PS turned the wrong way (Doesn't everyone's?). So I opened the PS motor connection plate, reversed the two leads that run into the motor (start windings via centrifugal switch), and now it runs the right way. :D

I'm adding a double pole double throw (DPDT) toggle switch and four wires to the motor to make it easy to change direction. I put the switch on the opposite side of the transmission housing from the power switch and the toggle will indicate the direction of rotation (when viewed from behind - up and the belt will run down in front (normal rotation), down and the belt will run up in front (reversed). This may be useful for other SPTs also.
