Power miter saw repair

I have an older Craftsman 10" power miter saw. Last time I used it for a project it worked as it should without problems. Last night I got it out to use and it blew the breaker in the box. It pops right away as soon as I pull the trigger. The blade does spin so nothing hanging up. Got the same result 3 times. The outlet is not over loaded. Only this saw on the line at the time. I also hooked up another saw to the outlet and it runs without problem.

Where should I start looking for my problem?

A new Bosch saw would solve my problem quick:D

Ya could start looking to solve the problem at Lowe's. :)

Hows the power cord and plug?
SS 500(09/1980), DC3300, jointer, bandsaw, belt sander, Strip Sander, drum sanders,molder, dado, biscuit joiner, universal lathe tool rest, Oneway talon chuck, router bits & chucks and a De Walt 735 planer,a #5,#6, block planes. ALL in a 100 square foot shop.

If you have a multi-meter, try the ohms scale as it sounds like a short (0 ohms) between the power leads or a short to ground and one of the power leads. I check at the plug for these conditions before doing any disassembling.

The insulation on older power cords (including Shopsmith GE motors) does deteriorate and crumble which can allow the shorting of the wires/leads.

As Bill and Beeg both point out always begin at the beginning. :) You did so by checking the outlet and being sure the unit is not jammed.
The plug is next then the cord. Next is the switch. It is not uncommon on many electrical items for a spade connector to come off of its tab and get against the shell.

Yes do check resistance from both sides to the ground/frame with switch 'on'.

The saw does power on and spins the blade but only a split second then POP!

I will have to check it out and see whats wrong.
