Is this 520?

Saw this on Craigslist. Seems like a good price for a 520 if that's what it is.

Definitely a 520, or an upgrade, either way it's a decend deal (except in those parts of the country where people give them away all the time).

Its a 520 with bandsaw. Decent price, especially for the condition, but with only one SPT I would try to get it down to 900 at least if it were me.

It is a 520 but you cannot tell which model headstock is there. The gentleman says he bought it new. If he bought it new with that fence and rails it is a "C" headstock. The bandsaw is often offered in a package.

I'd give him that price without a question.

The upgrade alone from a 500 to a 520 would cost more.
If you're after a ShopSmith, go for it.

The machine appears to be 'anniversary' (2003 + or -) vintage. You can see the serial number at the bottom of the warning label on the belt cover of the headstock. Additionally, you can see the warning label attached to the base (right side of bench). The table is also the latest version, smooth around the throat plate and ribbed outside of the miter slots. What I cannot tell is if it has the newer style 520 front fence rails with the magnets for the direct read fence. The price seems fair, though there is no harm is offering a lower price......all they can do is say no or counter. Good luck.

A couple more questions...

- When was the 520 first introduced?
- Dusty mentioned it may be a "C" headstock. Is that a good thing? How can I tell for sure?
- If I had the serial number would that provide any additional information that would be useful in determining older vs. newer parts?
