Bandsaw sanding belt?

Anyone ever put a sanding belt on a bandsaw? You have to remove the guides. Here is a company that sells them. Of course they don't sell a 72" belt. I read where someone made belts out of a roll of sanding cloth and JB Weld.

My other band saw is designed to use sanding belts and came with all the parts needed to swap. I did that for a while but when I got a strip sander I simply started using that. Gee it must be 30 years or more ago, bet I'd have to look for the instructions to do the change over now... and I'm sure the belts are going to fall apart, no way the glue will have lasted this long.

I found this company that supplies various size belts at a good price:

Question remains: How well will they work on a shopsmith band saw with a canted and non-crowned wheels.

Thanks for the custom belt link. This might be better to do on a regular band saw. Do they have crowned wheels? At least with a long belt it would last longer but if you tore it you would have just wasted a long belt.

Seems you would need a back plate (platen) or the paper would just push away from the wood. There would be 6" of free space for the paper to flex.

This is what the parts look like diagram wise for my sanding attachment.

Pretty simple now that I look at it again. It uses a 1/2" wide belt only.

I believe so.
