Rick Davis' DVD?

Post by Len »

I understand a Shopsmith DVD is in the making. Rick Davis, an instructor SS extraordinair, told us a few months ago that there was something in the works. As Christmas time is near, SWMBO would like some idea since my catalog is covered in drool.
Anybody know anything 'bout that?

Hi Len,

When I went to a ShopSmith Traveling Academy put on by Rick Davis, he mentioned to us too, that he was considering doing that. Not too long ago he made an announcment on this forum that it was in the works, but after a short search I was not able to find that announcement. You could spend a little time here looking for it, but I do not think it will answer your question anyway. You also could ask Customer Service or you might consider sending an e-mail to Rick. You can do that through this forum. He is logged here as ricknwood. Hope this helps, and have a Merry Christmas with or without those DVD's.:D

The Shopsmith Journals

Post by ricknwood »

Good Morning Shopsmith Owners!
As many of you have already seen with an e-mail that started yesterday, my DVD series has kicked off with the first one "Maintenance and Alignment". I would like to thank the thousands of my past students who have encouraged me on to do this series. I don't think without your support that it would have come this far. For those of you who don't know me personally, I am the Shopsmith Academy Instructor for the 11 Western States and currently the only instructor. I will begin shooting the second in the series, "Kitchen Cabinetry" the last week of January and plan on doing about 3 to 4 a year with the entire series coming to about 12-13 DVDs. I will be teaching and filming at the same time, so this will present me with some time constraints. Everything in this series will be done on Shopsmith products so you will really get an idea of the full depth of work that can be done on your machine. With the exception of the first, all will be done with two High Def cameras. We didn't think enough of you out there had converted to High Def at this time so made the decision to do the first without. This is a personal project that Shopsmith will be marketing and shipping the final product. All purchases will be made through Shopsmith with the exception of sales in the Traveling Academy. If you have any questions about the series, feel free to contact me through the forum in a private message form. If you haven't gotten the e-mail yet, here is the site http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/catalog/DVD_alignment.htm
Thanks again for your support,
Rick Davis

I loved the page, not only do I get a picture I get a little video. Shopsmith should do this for other products where Nick has done a short video.

The shipping seems high for a DVD, Netflix ships DVDs for a cost of $.17 and even in small quantities the post office does if for $1.05. Shopsmith is charging $8.95.

I will be waiting until I need to order more or Shopsmith sends me a free shipping offer. Also the only way to find the video is with your link, it is not listed as a new product.

Paul,
Shopsmith is currently working on getting the shipping price down to a reasonable rate. Thanks for your interest.

Rick
I am glad to hear that Shopsmith is looking at a lower price for shipping. I was just about ready to order the video until I saw what the price for shipping was. I was real impressed with the quality of picture and the content in the 3 mins of sample and now will have to wait for either a much lower or free shipping rate or combine it with my next order.

DVD Shipping Cost

Post by dusty »

I was flabbergasted when I attempted to order the first new DVD from the Rick Davis Journals. I pulled my order back. I'll not pay that much to ship a CD.
