In Middle if Power Pro Upgrade- spring question behind speed control

Whew, I couldn't get the DVD to go in either my Macbook or my wife's PC. But I tried the Mac again and was successful.
I have a C headstock. In Figure 6d of the Power Pro instruction manual, it doesn't show nor is anything mentioned about a tiny spring assembly on the headstock at the 12 o'clock position. Sorry about the pic quality of the close up.
I included a pic of the parts I removed & laid them out as they are essentially in the headstock as my wife wanted to know what I was doing & she doesn't speak technicalese....<smile>
So I'm getting ready to do the drilling. I wish I had ordered a new switch as this is my first C-type headstock and plastic is well....plastic.
