Here's something interesting. There's probably been hundreds of Shopsmith owners who tighten their machine in drill-press mode and notice that the Arm Lock Knob (part # 2) isn't dead-center over the "dimple" in the Base Arm (part #24). Then the folks on the forum explain the exact benefits of that design.
