Ron Dyck recently contacted me when he noted an area that he thought needed clarification in the MAGNA 10ER Owner’s Guide v1.01 that I restored last year.
He noted that in Fig. 27 the Spindle and Quill assembly is labelled 102 200
However on Page 20 the Spindle and Quill assembly is listed as part number 102 310
As we have discussed in posts previously, I took the best quality OEM manual copies and illustrations to restore the 10ER Owner’s Guide for folks, using subjectively what I considered the best of the best material.
I have attached side by side images from two separate (and there are indeed more) 10ER OEM manuals to illustrate how MAGNA labeled the originals in the later 10ER 35 TMG-4371A 3470A publication opposed to an earlier 10ER 25 TMG-4371A 3470A Owner's Guide.
The Drawings are identical in the Spindle area in each version, however the part numbers descriptions on the later release reflects the number for the "Spindle and Quill" 102 310, and the part number in the earlier reflects the number for the "Quill" 102 310.
My revised drawing also attached reflects 102 200 which is the part number for the Spindle 102 200 component of the Quill Assembly, as did the illustration from the later OEM manual.
Other releases that I examined that were not suitable as the illustration I chose to use, where the item actually singularly indicated "Spindle" which corresponded to 102 200.
The Parts List of Assemblies I felt was suitably descriptive since that section of the list contained only Assemblies, since we are dealing with a machine made in the late 1940's through early 1950's, the part numbers themselves are not active part numbers that can be ordered anywhere today anyway.
Should I create a new release of MAGNA 10ER Owner’s Guide v1.02?
If so, how should I annotate it? I am tempted to list the Assembly Part number below the 102 200 and state (assembly), but if I do that, what about all the other ‘assemblies’ that I did not annotate that way?
