I have learned so much from this forum. 🙂

I will try to share some of my projects /progress on these great machines I have in my Artillery. 😃

Here is the start of Refurbishing the 7th machine I just purchased.

Here is when I hauled it in.

I decided to refurbish this one first because of studying the info in this forum.

Also, info from members gave me when I started this Thread.

With that info and research I have gained is why I chose to take this path.

So I am going to start with this machine and see where I will go from there.

This one has a 2-bearing spindle.

This is it dissected.

Spindle parts/ Parts are parts. 🙂

Carriage lock was froze I soaked it in Kroil.

Removed this in stages

Ready to clean a start afresh.

Setup to press spindle bearing off.

This Required a lot of soaking . 🙂

It was stuck to the Spindle.

I don't know what this is used for. :confused:

But I'm sure Ya'll know. 🙂

Maybe cutoff disc?

I believe it is a 5/8" Universal Arbor, later re-identified as a 5/8" Molder/Dado Arbor. There are multiple versions. When I bought mine, roughly the time your machine was produced, SS did not have a 5/8" saw arbor and this was available to fill that need, thus Universal. This description presumes it is 5/8", there is a similar 1/2" product.

Since David linked my thread on Identifying Shopsmith Arbors there isn't anything for me to add about that.

It would be better to have larger pictures to show details clearly. Funny having to say that as most posting of picture problems is too large of ones not being able to post.

My edited this on my computer has changed since the last (Forced) update :rolleyes: and I am still try too figure it out. :confused:

I started to put my scale next to it that would have been (More Better). :)

Staying on the subject with the build.

I just got a 30L Ultrasonic cleaner from Vevor for this project and many others in the future.

Has anyone used these to clean the Shopsmith parts?

If so, are there any Warnings of what not to put in there?

I am going to research about cleaners also.

Do not put anything in it that is sensitive to high frequency vibration. :D :D :D :D :D

I have not used an Ultrasonic Cleaner on any Shopsmith parts.

I do know there are some alloy parts like the chucks on the Jig Saws that certain chemicals damage. Acidic.

Well, a little progress.

I purchased a sight glass for a band saw from SS.

Because I had the Smart Allelic Idea I could make the old Bandsaws look New. 😃 😃

Almost finished with this bandsaw update that will go with this Mark V.

I got a Plug ordered for the access hole / My idea is a MacMaster plug :cool: .

I will drill the hole once I get the plug I ordered in hand.

Yeah, I am waiting for a plug that I ordered from Mcmaster Carr.

You need to plug a 3/32" hole"? Just adds two more steps when adjusting.

Like JPG I don't understand why you want to have a plug for the Tension Adjustment hole in the Bandsaw Cover. The current Bandsaw Cover added the Window, which you have now done for yours and the hole/slot to adjust the Blade Tension without having to remove the cover. Two very good modifications to the Bandsaw Cover in my opinion. So much so I purchased that cover for my older primary Bandsaw and a replacement for another Bandsaw I restored. Both times when it was on sale like it is currently.

I was looking at a plug that would keep Dirt dobbers :) out.

Since the Cover doesn't completely seal to the Main Frame that little slot for the Tension Adjustment being covered is moot.
