Thanks for all the replies. The access point is from a hallway and the stairs are supported against a load bearing wall. From what I can tell the the space is empty. I plan on knocking a small hole into the wall for a look see. I am thinking that I might just cover the section of wall with knotty p...

Take a look at a Gilliom 18" bandsaw. It's a build it yourself saw. You buy the metal parts kit and plans from Gilliom and build the cabinet out of wood. They don't have a web site but if you look at shopsmith-tool-hunter.blog .com there is some recent info about Gilliom. I was surprised they w...

Retractable Casters

I fixed another one of those tiny screws on my power station yesterday, the second one in the past 4 years. I was lucky to be able to extract the broken screw on this one. If you can't get the screw out the drive rod (503807) is priced at $7.88 now. The older casters had roll pins in them and I have...

A Few Facts & Figures

I am one of the "owners" of Shopsmith, ie, a shareholder. The numbers I quote here are taken from public sources, MSN Money and the 2006 Shopsmith annual report. In the past 10 years Shopsmith sales topped out at $19.55 million in their 2000 fiscal year by 2006 the figure had dropped to $1...

Adios

A sad time for the Shopsmith community. I know Nick and Drew will be OK given their talents. The economic mess the world finds itself in at the moment will cause pain for many of us. But, the sun will come up tomorrow so keep smiling because those are free. I have SS stock and I too wonder about the...

Oscillating Sander

I've had one for a number of years and find it does a good job. It replaced a Sears bench top unit that got damaged and takes up little space. It takes a little while to set up but does return great results and was cheaper at the time than repacing the bench top unit with another of the same type. I...

Give SS a call to plead your case, ie, I was away for the holiday or whatever maybe they will honor the price. I used to work for one of the two large woodworking retailers and many times they would honor sale prices a day or two after the sale for good customers. Worth a try.:)

The price on the Overarm Router is exceptional. I can't remember any SPT
being 40% off lately. Also a good deal on the strip sander, Nick is right
about sharpening, that's what mine is used for. Who needs a Tormek?

Owners Weekend

I agree with all my fellow attendees, the weekend was a winner. I got more ideas from wandering around the academy and talking with everyone than I ever expected. A big thanks to Nick, Drew (stand up comedian) and the company for putting this on. Worth every dollar I spent and mile I drove. A Buick ...
