I'm hoping I wasn't seeing something Photoshopped.....
I saw a pic of a 10ER with what looked like a machinist vise on the shaft. I can think of a lot of uses if that's the case. Is there such a thing and has anyone done it?

Re: New Shopsmith Owner
Interesting on the paste wax. Originally, I tried a really light machine oil and as the literature says, sawdust just gummed it up. Then I tried a good synthetic auto paste wax. Again, the literature says while the auto wax is very hard, it doesn't offer lubricating properties. Lol....so I'll be try...

10ER Motor
I've got a 10ER....probably the original AO Smith motor. I've replaced the old cord with a new cord and about 95% of the time it works just fine. On the other 5%, I flip the switch and you see the blade 'bump' just a tiny fraction, but nothing else happens. Try the switch again and it takes off as u...

Re: 10ER Speed Changer- warped...new sleeve?
The sintered bronze bushings need to be replace. Hard to believe they are worn that bad. They are not an off the shelf item. There is an off the shelf item that can be machined to fit. The only two people that have supplied them that I know of are Hogwinslow and Skip Campbell. Hogwinslow used to ha...

Re: New to the 10ER
Real1shepperd, First off welcome to the Shopsmith Forum. Sounds like you found a nice Model 10ER. As for the Speed Changer parts, do be extremely careful with them. As you can see, they are expensive to replace if you can find them. They are easily broken if not carefully and correctly handled. Alt...

New to the 10ER
Hi All, I'm sure you've heard this story many times before or experienced it yourselves. I was made aware of a 10ER that had been sitting unused in a warehouse basement for the last 20 yrs. Original owner had passed away over 20yrs ago. Son not really interested in the machine. This is almost like a...
