rusted but sharp (?)
The tension that keeps the Jointer Feather Guard Assembly up against the fence is produced by a coil spring mounted on a threaded stud inside of the 'pivot point' on the guard assembly. One end of that spring protrudes through the top of the feather guard while the other end of the spring is hooked ...

? on aligning table to 90 degrees
As long as the Extension Table is flat (not warped) it's just a matter of shimming it until it is level. Dead on becomes a function of shims so as long as you have the right combination of shims you'll get there. SS does have an assortment of shims available. I have a work bench directly inline with...

? on Aligning Table to 90 degrees.
It sounds as though your Main Table is right on. Don't doubt it. Move on to the extension table. On which end of your SS are you going to use the Extension Table? Stop. Let's make sure we are communicating!! You are talking about the Extension Table and NOT a Floating Table - right???. Assuming that...

Cold Maintenance
Is there a chance of moisture (condensation) in the motor? I'd check the line voltage to the SS and then attempt to start the motor with NO LOAD (take the drive belt off). If it doesn't start - find a motor repair shop. After thought: Is it warm (40-50+ degrees) in the shop area? Another after thoug...

Aligning Table to 90 Degrees
Let's slow down and be careful with what we are doing here. You mention two tasks here that are related only in that they both are alignment tasks and that they somehow involve the table. "Ninety Degrees to the Blade" and "Level with the Extension Table". Complete all of the Main...

Sawstop System
It is very interesting. But I will wait for awhile. What we are reading/seeing now are press releases arranged by the designer/manufacturer. I saw something on TV, I don't recall what program; but it showed the system at work. The demo showed how a hotdog in the blade resulted in blade withdrawal an...

Bandsaw Bearings
Go ahead. Tell me to read my manual. This is something that everyone should do. Nearly all questions are answered there is one reads the manual thoroughly. Why are the bearings for the upper and lower wheels not user replaceable? :( Hopefully I am wrong. If I am, please point me ...

Carter Stabilizer
paulmcohen
Thank you. Very good reference. Who better to explain why a Carter than Carter.
I don't use my bandsaw that way enough to need the Stabilizer but I can certainly see than some may. Incidently, do you have one on your bandsaw?
