the great thing is that my kids were co-sleeping with my wife until the day of the bunkbed. I don't think they would have left that arrangement to sleep in ordinary beds on their own. I assume you have neither the hubs or the coupler.

Only way that comes to mind, is to loosen the bench tubes and twist the leg(and headrest) about a vertical axis to obtain better alignment.
