Your angle grinder idea works OK but not great. Ive done it on my SS.
There realy are not a lot of advantages over the SS one. the grinder only cuts somewhat faster but the cut quality is lacking. but if the grinder road in/on bearings and then had a drive cable like the Viel... then ... maybe. it ...

I love the ShopSmith lathe duplicator but when I saw this Viel machine,it made me start to think, What if...?
I am Not trying to conpair the two duplicators, I think This duplicator look pretty neat!and wounder if anyone here has any ...

Home made tail stock for the ShopSmith

Hello everyone
A while back someone made an adaptor so that a steel lathe tail stock could be used on the ShopSmith. I can not find this artical in the archives.
If anyone know where I can find the info. I would be Greatfull.

Hello everyone
How about buying bendable plywood, the stuff is not hard to find, once glued is holds its shape nicely. (No spring back, like the steamed bent stuff will do.)

Just an idea.

As a general rule of thumb.
Green wood is fun. Dried wood is work! ;-)

sycamore is a good work to work with, it turns like soft maple. but looks a lot nicer.
