Update: Ordered the tiles over the weekend. After searching a lot online, and checking a few local flooring stores and tile distributors, I ended up just ordering them from the Borg. Nobody stocked them, and nobody else seemed to be too interested in putting in a special order for 5 tiles. The color...

Thanks for showing us this table!

Your beverage? Have to guess Pepsi.
Thanks! The floors were a project about 2 years ago.

Unfortunately, Shopsmith never made a "floor sander" attachment. Had to go the rental shop for that one.

Thanks guys - that's pretty much what I had in mind - it's just nice to have some validation from my fellow woodworker types to make sure I wasn't totally out in left field with the idea. I think I'd go with the tile fastened to some 1/2" plywood with construction adhesive or mastic. I'm leanin...

I purchased this set http://www.woodline.com/p-1766-30-pc-professional-set.aspx and have been pretty pleased with it. I thought that it would be nice to have a good basic assortment, and then replace them as they get worn out with higher quality individual bits. That way I'd end up with nice bits fo...

Beautiful table! My wife wants me to build a hall table, so I've been building a file of designs I like to draw inspiration and ideas from when I design mine and I'm going to add yours to the file. Thanks! A lot of the "design elements" on this table are really just "make it easy to ...

A cheap marble top table idea

I've been thinking about my next project, and I'm considering a pair of marble top end tables for our living room. Being frugal.....OK, CHEAP....I don't really want to pony up the big $ for custom cut marble slabs. I'm thinking about buying 18x18 or 24x24 marble floor tiles, and setting them in a &q...

I remember checking an older book of Norm's projects out from the local library to see if it contained anything I might like building. My favorite page of the book was a big 2-page full color photo of norm in the center of his shop, looking up (camera must have been up in the rafters somewhere.) It ...

I have a question. I work in a double car garage 22x22 with assorted non shop things (Lawn tractor, lawn and garden tools, edger, freezer, cabinet full of planting supplies, can food shelf, painting supplies and such) so my effective area is probably 20x20 I was wondering how it would be to work in...
