Re: Recumbent bicycle repair

Have you considered having some HDPE plastic on hand for such repairs?

This is water bottle cap and detergent bottle plastic. Lots of youtube videos on recycling this stuff. Shapes with wood working tools. Oh, it's cutting board plastic if you're you don't have time to collect recyclables.

Re: Planning ahead...what kind of wood?

I don't recall a specific website to that guided me but I do know the wax based end grain sealer came from Amazon in a gallon steel pail. I also sealed some with paint. Wax wins hands down

Re: Planning ahead...what kind of wood?

Inexpensive wood in the truest form is green wood (unseasoned). And that will be regional.

I bought 1000 - 800 bd ft of red oak. I thinned out the worst first and sold 300 bd ft the same day. My cost was a little over a hundred then. I stickered the wood and sealed the ends. The wood was dry after ...

I'd love to see pictures, :) especially of the 10ER with the DVR motor.[/quote]

I have given you the condensed version.

I have purchased the stiratech motor in the standard motor mount configuration. These are readily available on eBay. I shipped it to my brother. As I am ...

What to keep? Downsizing

Downsizing from 20 X 26 shop to the golf cart side of a garage (9 X 22). I do have some attic space and 10’ ceilings.

What I have: one shorty, bench mounted as sanding station. One restored ER with DVR motor (an ER10 Power Pro), 520 with Power Pro, two disassembled ERs and a DC-3300. Every SPT, SS ...

As an alternative or as a way to compare the costs of other systems which accurately sharpen planer blades to the SS sytem check out this Canadian firm:

I am on shop smith #11 now. Of those 3 were E/ER10s, 4 – 500s; 2 - 510s and one 520.

If my experience is helpful the 510s and 520s are markedly more expensive until you get into the details. Since those models are most likely coming from the original owner or their estate I get a more complete ...

Now I understand, "comparatively speaking", they, "ERs" are in need of some TLC, where, the newer models are plug and play for you. Plug and play is nice, but in reality, a 60 year old ER needing some TLC is not a lot of work, but all is relative.
Thanks for the clarity.
I have kept every e and ...

Still do not why they are "ER 10", "labor intensive to restore"?
Two reasons most mark v that I buy do not to be restored and all of the e models need new bearings and some have pitting on the main tubes.

So comparing the two the e models are labor intensive. One was not that much better than ...
