Re: Shopsmith sold??
Thanks for the responses, RCPLANEGUY and DUSTY. I was just kinda shocked to see another companies name doing business as Shopsmith. And since its been since 2009, guess that shows how often I order stuff, doesn't it? LOL

Shopsmith sold??
Just received a 42" hood kit for my DC3300 that's been on backorder for over a month and a half, and the template in the instruction packet had, at the bottom,

Oh well, JPG. Maybe he gave up trying to figure it out. Or maybe I'll be seeing that Planer of his on Craigslist soon?

Re: New to Shopsmith - Beavercreek, OH
Almost a year later, but if you are still needing help, I live just south of nearby Xenia. Cant say I know everything about the Shopsmith, but if nothing else maybe we can figure it out together and both learn some things.

Beltsander Torsion spring
Finally figured out why I couldnt tension my beltsander belts anymore. Took beltsander apart last night, and torsion spring was broke. Looks like it was twisted to the point it just snapped.
Also, noticed there was some scoring on the Idler Drum shaft, as well as what looked to be heat-hardened ...

Got it fixed!
Hey guys! I got the problem fixed!
Several things helped out, the help from all of you first and foremost!
Remembered that where I work, we had recently purchased a laser optical tachometer. Brought it home this evening, set it up, and was reading 6500 RPM's!!! Like I said, it was screaming. Dialed ...

Belt riding high on pulley
Did what JPG suggested, to the letter. The belt is riding high(about 1/32", maybe a tad more) above the rim of the drive pulley. The belt was hard to measure, as the edge closest to the motor is slightly "fuzzed", but it looks to measure 15/32". Does the belt riding so high on the pulley after ...

Not enough threads!
I followed Nick's instructions in the link, as well as JPG's PDF link.
What I'm running into now is that the set screw is only held by about 1/4 thread of the nut and the nut cannot be tightened, when the belt is 1/8" from the rim of the drive pulley. If I set the belt 1/16" from rim of drive ...

Thanks Beeg!
Thanks Beeg! I'm printing these links out now and taking them to the shop. The one link from Nick Engler sounds like the one I might need. I'll let you know what happens.
Thanks again!

Speed changer handle came off...now what?
Hey guys! I need some serious help here. The other night I was using my Mark 5, and when I went to turn down the speed to turn it off, the speed changer handle came off in my hand. I noticed that the set-screw had backed out. But when I reinstalled it, I'm noticing the speeds dont sound right ...
