Whatever makes you so sure there is a winner in this?

My question remains. What is the SS specification for table top flatness? It would appear to be +- .015". That's +-1/64th of an inch.

Has anyone had experience with router bits and twist bits from Wood River. Wood River is a product line available from Woodcraft.

What does the MS consider to be level? Is there a prescribed torque level for the trunion bolts or is it just 'all the same'?

If there are/were no shorts in the coil wiring, what caused the heat that discolored the wires, melted the varnish and burned the lacing tape?

Looking at the picture posted early in this thread, the Shopmate appears to be nothing more than a vacuum head sitting on top of a canister.

Is that correct?

If so, does it seem that a Shopvac power head could be so mounted and have the same effect?

No. Imagine yourself standing at the tailstock end looking toward the headstock. Your work is turning counterclockwise. Now imagine a piece of sandpaper on top of the rotating piece. It doesn't matter which side of the SS you stand to hold the paper, your piece is still turning counerclockwise ...

I needed to drill a flat-bottomed hole in some aluminum, and borrowed an end mill from a friend. Turns out that the mill was left-handed, so I simply put the PowerPro in reverse and milled away!

Of course, that alone is no reason to justify the upgrade, but having reversibility is a great feature ...
